When to take LoviTest?
Reasons for Testing:
Testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea is recommended if:
- You've had unprotected sex with a new partner.
- Either you or your partner engaged in unprotected intercourse with others.
- Symptoms linked to Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea are noticed.
- A current or past sexual partner has disclosed having an STI.
- You're planning or are already pregnant, it’s important to protect yourself and your baby from infection.
Recommended Testing Timeline:
For at-home testing including LoviTest, it's advisable to take Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing approximately 14 days after unprotected intercourse unless you already have symptoms.
Both infections have an incubation period, making early testing less accurate. Waiting for two weeks post-exposure ensures more reliable test outcomes if you are symptom-free.
How to take LoviTest?
LoviTest is a Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea testing kit that offers both ease of use and discreet delivery. Discreet packaging ensures confidentiality, protecting contents from identification until opened.
Testing Process:
LoviTest is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, which can detect the presence of any chlamydia or gonorrhoea bacterium DNA in your sample.
Instructions for LoviTest’s at-home testing:
For Vaginal Swab:
- Wash hands and unpack the kit on a clean surface.
- Unpack the vaginal swab (do not touch the cotton tip).
- Gently insert the vaginal swab about 2 inches (5 cm) into your vagina. Gently rotate the swab for 20 seconds, making sure the cotton tip touches walls of the vagina. This will ensure sufficient moisture absorption on the swab.
- Remove the swab and place the cotton tip of the swab into the sample collection tube, snapping off the swab handle where it is marked. Discard the swab handle. Your sample will be added to the fluid already inside the sample collection tube, so do not discard it.
- Tightly close the sample tube and write your name and date of birth on the label.
- Place the sample tube in the provided bag and seal the bag by pulling the white backing away from the top and folding the adhesive strip.
- Place the sealed bag, along with the completed form, into the postage-paid returns box and seal where indicated with the provided security seal.
For Urine Sample:
- Wash hands and unpack the kit on a clean surface.
- Open the urine collection cup and pass a small amount of urine into it.
- Use the provided pipette to fill the sample tube to marked lines with urine. Discard the Pipette and urine cup.

- Place the sample tube in the bag and seal the bag by pulling the white backing away from the top and folding the adhesive strip.
- Place the sealed bag along with the completed form into the postage-paid returns box, and seal where indicated with the provided security seal.
By following these instructions carefully, you can conduct the test at home, ensuring both confidentiality and accuracy in testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.

What do I do if I get a positive result?
LoviTest offers testing specifically to detect genital Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. The testing facility does not provide a medical service.
If Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea is detected, or if you are experiencing symptoms of an STI, it's highly recommended to seek appropriate medical advice and treatment from a healthcare professional. Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea can usually be treated easily with antibiotics.
In the event of a positive diagnosis for Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea, it's crucial to inform your sexual partners. This step is vital as you might have contracted the infection from a partner unaware of their own status. Informing your partners allows them to promptly seek testing and treatment.
This not only ensures timely medical attention for them but also reduces the risk of serious health complications caused by these infections, if left untreated. Additionally, it prevents further transmission to you or other partners during future sexual encounters.
